Ladies and gentlemen, the end of the year is rolling around and you know what that means. It’s time for student council elections. It appears to be a little more of a race than last year. We have two, I said two, candidates for parliamentarian Joey Scherbarth and Tala Atoafa. However, we only have one candidate for secretary, which is Lindzey Patterson. In the field of treasury, we also only have 1 candidate Sydney Boes which if elected will retain her position from last year. Now as we move up the ladder, the race seems to get tighter for vice president. We have Leilani Matia, Dakota Giao, and Calvin (a.k.a. Ty) Shepered. Now that sounds like a race. Last but not least we have the runnings for the president between Anna George and Aubrey Walsh. We wish are candidates luck and can’t wait to here from them on Friday this week.

For the month of May the CowboyRoundUp has chosen Mrs. Naomi Etchart!

“She is a great, young, hip teacher with a lot of swag.”

She is a math teacher and also an alumni. She went to college at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on the campus in Arizona.  No, she did not go to school for teaching at first, but found her calling after realizing that Engineering wasn’t for her! She really deserves this award and we are glad to present it to her.

“Mrs. Etchart really cares about her students and it shows by how much time and effort she puts into teaching them and making sure that they’re on track!”

This week’s student of the week is Alema Atoafa!

“Alema was chosen for a number of different reasons. He has a very polite demeanor towards teachers and always seem to have a positive outlook. He has been through some tough situations and still managed to keep himself on track. We [the teachers] appreciate his intelligence, his attitude, and most importantly, the way he treats others.” said Kathleen Kelley.

He gets the Student of the Week parking space for the week of May 2nd and he will also receive a king size candy bar!

Congrats Alema!

For all the soccer lovers of Meeker High School, the wait is over. Mr. Snell is putting together an after school “Open Field” for all the soccer players on Tuesdays at 3:45pm to 5:15pm.

The first few will be indoors. They will be out doors in two or three weeks. So if you don’t have soccer cleats, you have time to get some. Mean while, it will be in the gym.

You will need; a white shirt and a dark  shirt, clean shoes to keep the gym clean, and shin guards if you have any.

If there are any questions, ask Mr. Snell.
